Piano Tuner/Technician

Mark Freitas, P.T.G., M.C.M. is an experienced piano tuner and technician serving Anoka and Ramsey Counties and surrounding Twin Cities north-metro communities.

Mark learned the trade of piano tuning and repair while working at Whitney Music Center in Willmar, Minnesota. As the resident Piano Technician for eight years, he tuned, regulated, and repaired various consignment pianos as well as new and used floor models. Regional clientele included churches, homes, schools, and theaters across West Central, MN. The pianos ranged from spinets to full uprights (many 100+ yr/olds), baby grands, grands, a 9-foot concert grand, and antique and square grands from the mid-late 1800s. Mark gained the client's trust by providing outstanding customer service, being willing to tackle most any project, and providing meticulous attention to detail in tuning, mechanical and musical performance. In 2022, I started MusiCrafts Piano Service in Las Vegas, NV, where I served residential customers and piano stores in the greater Las Vegas/Henderson area.

In 2023 the great state of Texas became our home, where I served residential customers, churches and Waxahachie ISD in DFW, Ellis County, and surrounding areas. As of April 2026, I’m back in MN, serving Anoka and Ramsey Counties! I love meeting a wide variety of people, their’ pianos and pets, teaching them about their fantastic instruments, and helping them to enjoy their musical pursuits. I am a proud member of the Piano Technicians Guild, Twin Cities Chapter.

Craftsman

With over 40 years as a custom woodworker, Mark started combining his passion for musical instruments to create functional art, rescuing instruments from becoming potential landfill. Since 2013, his products have included lamps, desks, coat racks, and other items. Please visit his Store (all items on sale!) and Gallery to see the wide variety of upcycled musical instruments. He specializes in collaborating with customers to design unique and personal items.

Musician

Mark earned his bachelor's degree in Music Performance (Trumpet) from California State University, Fresno, and his master's degree in Church Music from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (Major: Conducting, Minor: Voice). His professional music career has spanned 50 years as a trumpeter, pianist, keyboardist, singer, jazz band leader, conductor of choirs and orchestras, composer, arranger and recording engineer. In addition, he has toured internationally as a musician and/or clinician in Portugal, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Teacher/Clinician

Mark has taught private trumpet lessons in classical and jazz techniques for over 40 years. Several of his students have been accepted into All-State Bands and have won college music scholarships. He has also taught private lessons for keyboardists, conducting, music theory, and worship leading. From 2023-26, he taught from his Texas home studio, and as the Trumpet Instructor in Private Schools and Waxahachie ISD.

He also taught seminars on Vocal/Choral Techniques, Music Reading, Worship Leadership, Philosophy of Worship, Philosophy of Worship Arts Ministry, Building a Worship Band/Orchestra, and Using MIDI in Church Music.

Worship Pastor

For over 25 years, Mark served as a Minister of Music/Worship Pastor in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas. As a result, he has the spiritual/musical training and passion for worshipping God in spirit and truth, leading/training churches to do the same, and maintaining musical instruments toward that weekly goal.

Family Man

Mark and his wife, Janine, have been married for 42 years. They are blessed with three amazing sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, a grandson, a granddaughter and four furry grandsons (1 dog and 3 cats).
